She held the bow firmly with her fingers, pressing it hard against the shiny, cold metal strings. The deep, sustained sound deriving from the dark maroon string bass had her mind waft into another state of being. She had complete control over the rhythm, like a marionette. Nothing could conquer her and her loyal wooden companion. Not in this world, anyway.
